What Happens After Ayahuasca? When Healing Turns Into Service
By David Vox
Many people come to ayahuasca to receive medicine for their own healing. Fewer are prepared for being called to serve.
Because what happens when the medicine is no longer something you only drink in ceremony, but something you start living with day by day?
When it begins shaping how you move through the world, how you relate, and how you show up?
After ten years on the ayahuasca path, I’ve watched many people move from personal healing into service. Not because they planned to, and not because they took on a role, but because the medicine kept working through them.
The episode includes a short guided meditation, designed to help you connect with the people you feel called to serve in this lifetime.
This episode is for those who feel that the medicine is asking something more of them than personal healing, and want to listen carefully to what that might be.

What happens after ayahuasca when you have not only received the medicine, but you have integrated it long enough to become the medicine yourself?
After 10 years on the ayahuasca path, I watched so many people move from personal.
0:17
Healing into.
Service and most of the people I met at my first retreat 10 years ago are now artists, singers, healers, therapists, coaches and facilitators at retreats.
And it seems to me that after the healing and integration comes the calling to be of service to our self and to others.
0:44
So in today’s episode, and as a gift at the beginning of this new year, happy New Year, I want to share with you a short guided meditation.
It’s a journey that takes you to the people that you’re called to serve in this lifetime, and in 10 minutes you are guided into the energy of the.
1:02
People.
That are waiting for you right now to be of service and to honor your truest expression in this world.
And maybe this is the year that you light that campfire for this.
Community and.
Bring your gifts.
1:17
Out there into this world, find a quiet place to sit or lay down and let your breath start to slow down.
Breathe deeply in through your nose and out through your mouth.
1:38
Release your shoulders, feel your back lengthening and relaxing, and feel your face softening.
Stay with your breath until it feels steady and calm.
1:56
You are safe, present and ready to begin this journey back to yourself.
Imagine a gentle light that begins to gather in front of you, that moves closer and closer, carrying warmth and your favorite colours sparkling.
2:25
Slowly, you start to recognise shapes, faces and energies of those who have served you on this healing journey.
The ones who helped you when you didn’t know how to ask.
2:43
The ones who offered a word, a gesture, a hand, and the ones that have served you on your transformative journey.
The ones that reminded you that you are also here to Sir.
3:05
Let them step closer.
Let the feeling of gratitude rise quietly in your body.
You don’t need any words, just your breath.
3:22
It says thank you, each exhale a wave of appreciation, each inhale their kindness entering your chest.
Stay here for a while and let your body memorize what it feels like to be helped, to be supported with safety and sacredness.
4:05
Now something begins to shift in your chest.
A widening, an expansion, a small sun turning outward.
Faces begin to appear again outside of you.
4:24
These are the people that you have already served, supported, held, nurtured.
Every single smile that happened because of you is now coming back to be witnessed.
4:43
Everything you that you ever received in person or in silent appreciation is now entering your field.
Some you might know well and remember, and some you can barely even remember at this moment.
5:07
Some you don’t even know that I’ve appreciated you from a distance or from another dimension.
All of them stand around you now.
Their eyes are soft, their breath is calm, and you feel the quiet love of connection and fulfilment, service without strain, love moving freely both ways.
5:36
Breathe out towards them, a silent blessing, and breathe in their gratitude that is returning to you now.
5:54
The light around you changes.
It thins into air and shadow, and a path appears ahead of you, winding through tall pine trees.
The sun is lowering slowly in the horizon, amber through branches, long blue shadows on the ground.
6:18
You begin to walk barefoot, each step deeper into your stillness.
The air smells of pine and soil, and birdsong is slowly fading into stillness.
6:37
The last light of the day touches your skin, and the forest grows darker.
It’s alive, it’s awake, and it’s waiting for you.
Far ahead, you can see a flicker of orange light.
6:57
A fireplace.
You follow it slowly, true the path, and for each step you feel calmer and more fulfilled, more alive and more calm.
7:18
The path opens into a clearing, and there you see a campfire burning in the centre.
Steady, golden and breeding with the wind.
You walk closer and the warmth of the fire meets your skin.
7:41
Around the fire are empty places, waiting.
You know one of them is yours.
You sit down in a wooden chair and inhale the fresh forest air, feel the ground beneath you, the heat of the flickering flames on your face and a sound of fire that fills the silence.
8:11
For a moment you sit here alone, but you can ascend.
Movement around you, the air thicken slowly with presence.
Breathe deeply.
Shapes begin to form into the light, figures stepping into the clearing.
8:37
These souls are the one you’re here to meet.
Your future tribe, friends, clients, the people your life will touch on this journey.
They come slowly towards you, eyes lifted towards your eyes, faces open, ready, filled with smiles and gratitude.
9:08
They take their places around the campfire and they look at you with admiration and celebration.
Let yourself feel the energy of them, look into their eyes and feel the emotions that stirs when you meet the one you have been waiting for, that has also been waiting for you.
9:41
You are the answer to their prayer.
Feel how it is to being seen by those who are here to be served by you.
Let your heart open and widen just for it to land.
10:06
Now something stirs inside of you.
Your gifts, your service, your freest expression you came here to bring.
It begins to rise from the centre of your stomach up through your chest.
Warm, certain, alive.
10:24
Let it move however it wants.
Through your voice, through your song, through your movement, through stillness, tears or dance.
The people around the fire feel it.
Let yourself be in your fullest expression around this campfire.
10:47
Everyone here starts to breed with you.
The entire circle becomes one living current, witnessing you in your fullest expression, save received in your true service to the people you feel safe and called to serve.
11:16
Each person around this campfire has something they want to share with you about how you were the one that served them on their healing journey.
Take a moment to listen to their story and feel each word, each flicker of gratitude in their eyes landing in your heart.
12:36
Now, above the clearing around the campfire, a full moon climbs into the sky.
Her light spills over the trees and over the faces, around the fire and over your skin.
12:54
The moon becomes the silent witness of this moment.
Every time you see her again, you can remember the circle, this readiness, this belonging, knowing that every person that is waiting for you is looking at the same moon in awe.
13:18
And every time this moon is full, you will know within you.
You are ready, complete, to shine your light within this world, even during the night.
Let the moonlight pour into your chest.
13:37
Let it rest there as a quiet anchor for your path of service.
Now you witness the fire softens.
Breathe deeply.
The people around the campfire are beginning to fade, slowly retreating back to their timelines on this earth, and the light of the moon remains.
14:06
You see her shining strongly just as you bring your awareness back to your breath and inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth and feel the ground beneath you, the weight of your body.
14:30
And when you feel ready, open your eyes slowly and bring this energy of your people, your service, your gratitude to those you met and felt with you into this day.
14:50
And so it is.
