About the library

Long-form writing on ayahuasca integration

This is the essay library. Each piece is written by someone in the Alliance — coaches, facilitators, teachers who have sat with this medicine over long stretches of their lives. The point of the library is not to be encyclopedic. It is to give you a small set of pieces that hold up, that you can send to a friend, and that respect your intelligence.

We publish slowly on purpose. There is already too much content about ayahuasca online, and much of it is either evangelising or catastrophising. The essays here try to do neither. They describe the terrain honestly — what the medicine can do, what it can't, what tends to happen in the weeks and months after — so that readers can make their own decisions.

What you'll find here

Pieces on preparation, ceremony, and the first year after. Pieces on the traps — spiritual bypassing, community drift, the temptation to chase the next retreat. Pieces on the science, when the science is honest and the honesty is useful. And a handful of longer flagship guides for anyone who wants to read one careful thing rather than fifty scattered ones.

Suggested reading order

If you are still deciding whether to sit, start with 'Am I Ready to Try Ayahuasca?' If you have sat and are inside integration, read 'The Games We Play After Ayahuasca'. If you are choosing a retreat, read 'Choosing a Retreat That Works'. Everything else you can wander through in any order.
