Difficult Experiences

A "bad trip" is almost always a teacher wearing a hard mask. In the moment, breathe long and low, remember you are safe and the medicine will pass, and let the facilitators hold you. Afterward, don't try to solve it alone — bring it to an integration circle, a therapist familiar with psychedelics, or a trusted guide within two weeks. Fear that gets witnessed becomes wisdom; fear that gets buried becomes symptom.

Terror in ceremony is usually a doorway, not a verdict. The most difficult ceremonies often become the most valuable — with skilled integration. Do not integrate a hard ceremony alone; find a coach or circle within the first two weeks.

Feeling worse for 1–3 weeks is common, especially after your first ceremony: material has surfaced and is asking to be metabolized. Feeling worse for 2+ months is a signal to reach out to an integration professional. It is not weakness; it is exactly what support is for.
